ABOUT US |
ABOUT US: Out of Country Voting Palestine/Holy Land is a positive, pro-democracy initiative which aims at giving refugees in camps and diaspora around the world the opportunity to express themselves peacefully through the ballot box. This procedure will allow them to vote in referendums as well as to choose representatives to speak on their behalf. The process used is called Out of Country Voting (OCV). Out of Country Voting Palestine/Holy Land is not affiliated to any political party or organization. It is put up by individuals brought together by the belief that giving Palestinian refugees and diaspora a voice is a positive and useful process towards a peaceful solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The website is self-funded and run by two people, plus assistance with translation. Currently the work is done voluntarily, time and money. We are reviewing workloads, and are happy to hear of offers for any voluntary assistance, if workload needs require. In 2007 the OCV for Palestine/Holy Land idea was spread via email, we will review how the website helps in developing the process. The aim of the website is to show the historical precedents and opportunities available, as well as building networks for making OCV a reality. There are many ways for benefiting from using OCV for developing solutions and options. For a downloadable version of some illustrations and examples CLICK HERE. "My work experience is mainly in change management, training managers/teams, and improving organisation performance and implementing. Listening to various opinions and being open minded for simpler solutions. So I have continuous improvement skills and realise things change and can be improved. I have also travelled to Egypt, Jordan, Israel/Palestine, Syria and the Lebanon, on holiday – where I visited Sabra/Shatilla and asked to hear their point of view." London, UK Research/Translation/Web Design and Maintenance: "Born and raised in Beirut, I have an intimate experience of Palestinian camps in Lebanon and Jordan visiting friends and family over the years. I have also lived in the Netherlands, the United States and Norway, which put me in touch with other Palestinians living in their diaspora. As a scholar, I am specialized in the history of the modern Middle East - specifically Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine." |
